Operative Dentistry (C1)
This preclinical module is complimentary to Dental Materials and Technology (MTM43) and introduces operative dentistry. This enables the student to obtain experience in the surgical skills required in providing dental treatment prior to actual clinical treatment of patients. Operative procedures are simulated in the Clinical Skills Laboratory in order to develop psychomotor skills and familiarisation of dental equipment and the theoretical concepts of treatment. During laboratory exercises students access, instrument and obturate root canals on model teeth. As students progress more advanced clinical scenarios are introduced thus allowing students to become proficient in more complex operative procedures.
