Conservative Dentistry (A1)
This module covers the protocols and techniques used in the conservation and restoration of lost tooth tissue using the various kinds of direct and indirect restorations of individual teeth performed in the mouth. It also includes prevention, diagnosis and treatment of disease and restoration of defective or missing tooth tissue.
Students will learn about various types of restorations, crowns and surgical procedures performed in the oral cavity. There is a strong emphasis on the dental materials required for the production of all metal inlays, onlays, custom post and cores, full crowns and appropriate interim restorations. Students will be introduced to the biomechanics and design principles of the different types of dental restoration and their limitations in actual supervised clinical practice.
