South Africa

Focuses on clinical training which prepares dentists to place implants safely and legally in South Africa. An important feature is continuous supervised clinical training in which implants are placed in actual patients. Students will also be assisted in compiling a portfolio of cases they have treated as this is required for a licence to place implants legally in South Africa.

Course Outline

Course Structure

One to One Clinical training is delivered from the intern's actual practice, treating their own patients under the supervision of an experienced mentor. Interns will work on their patients and will provide the complete implant treatment plan from implant placement to fitting of the final restoration. Work-based training begins early in the programme with clinical training sessions involving single and multiple implant placements including simple bone grafting procedures. The internship aims to develop confident and competent implantologists able to deliver safe and predictable implant treatment.

Programme

Designed to put Knowledge into Practice the programme delivers:

  • Two-day induction course and hands-on workshop.

  • One to one direct supervision delivered at the inters practice.

  • 5 fully restored implants with associated clinical and materials costs, placed under direct supervision (Lab fee not included).

  • Regular weekly online group seminars to discuss your proposed cases and virtually plan placements with your supervisor.

  • On-demand pre-recorded lectures. Watch as often and whenever you want.

  • Downloadable books, articles, patient consent documentation, and educational materials.

  • Help with writing up your case logbook which is signed off on completion as evidence of training.
